چکیده

Anisotropic bonded magnets are fabricated by surfactant-assisted ball milling in a magnetic field and magnetic field alignment of the milled chip-like nanoparticles of the Sm–Co and Nd–Fe–B materials. It is found that the application of magnetic fields during the ball milling strengthens the anisotropy of the chips and therefore improves the alignment. For SmCo5 phase-based chips, for instance, energy products up to 26.0 MG Oe and 19.1 MG Oe are obtained for the chips and the bonded magnets, respectively. This combined technique opens a new approach to the fabrication of anisotropic bonded magnets for various applications. (Some figures in this article are in colour only in the electronic version)

Ultrathin SmCo5 nanoflakes with high-coercivity prepared by solid particle (NaCl) and surfactant co-assisted ball milling

The ultrathin SmCo5 nanoflakes with average thickness smaller than 50 nm are prepared by a novel method of solid particle (NaCl) and surfactant co-assisted ball milling. The as-prepared nanoflakes exhibit a narrower thickness distribution of 10-50 nm and high coercivity of 23 kOe. The possible formation mechanism of nanoflakes are proposed. Temperature dependence of demagnetization curves indic...

Sm-Co hard magnetic nanoparticles prepared by surfactant-assisted ball milling.

Hard magnetic nanoparticles based on the Sm(2)Co(17) and SmCo(5) systems have been successfully produced using a surfactant-assisted ball milling technique. A size-selection process has been developed to obtain nanoparticles of different sizes with narrow size distribution. Significant room-temperature coercivity up to 3.1 kOe has been achieved with the Sm(2)Co(17)-based nanoparticles of an ave...

Strong textured SmCo5 nanoflakes with ultrahigh coercivity prepared by multistep (three steps) surfactant-assisted ball milling

The high coercivity of 26.2 kOe for SmCo5 nanoflakes are obtained by multistep (three steps) surfactant-assisted ball milling. The magnetic properties, phase structure and morphology are studied by VSM, XRD and SEM, respectively. The results demonstrate that the three step ball-milling can keep more complete crystallinity (relatively less defects) during the process of milling compared with one...
